UHCL math lecturer named 2024 Project NExT Fellow
Dr. 纳尔逊•卡特, Senior Lecturer of Mathematics at UHCL was recently named a 2024 Project New Experiences in Teaching (NExT) Fellow of the Mathematics Association 美国(MAA). MAA’s Project NExT program is designed to support new or recent doctorates in mathematical 科学. The program prepares its fellows to become productive mathematics 教师 members and future leaders of the mathematics community by fostering strong teaching, mentoring, and research skills. A UHCL team of mechanical engineering students, Artifices Lunaris, has emerged as one of only 13 teams nationwide to advance in NASA's prestigious Micro-g NExT Design 挑战. This annual competition invites undergraduate students to design, build, and test a tool or device that addresses real-world space exploration challenges.
Dr. David Garrison, Associate Dean of UHCL's College of Science and Engineering, has been named the 2024 Sloan Scholars Mentoring Network (SSMN) Higher Education Professional 年度最佳. The award recognizes an outstanding Sloan Scholar alumnus who has made significant contributions to their field.
UHCL's Occupational Safety and Health program prepares students for careers as 安全 专业人士. Alumnus Tyler Tanniehill earned his B.S. in Environmental Science (now the Occupational Safety and Health B.S.) with a dual focus in industrial hygiene and 安全. Today, he's an environmental health and 安全 program manager.
